In March 1988, we began Controls Engraving Service (CES) in response to a local need for high quality engraved legends. CES began as a part-time business with only one machine. Within three years, business began to grow, so we purchased a second machine keep up with the increasing demand! In 1998, we decided to turn CES into a full-time family business.

As our customer base continued to grow (mainly through word-of-mouth), we began looking toward the future and made several sales trips in order to bring CES to companies throughout the Southeast U.S. This resulted in even more growth, which required more capacity, more machines, and additional space for the business.

Further expansion followed in 1997, when a local sort facility was added to a growing Memphis company. CES was fortunate enough to be selected by the local electrical contractor to provide the controls signage for the entire project. This one project was larger than any project we had done before, combining legends, labels, and signage. This was an exciting time of growth for CES, and it was growth for which we had been preparing.

CES became a full time family business in June of 1998, producing engraved legends, name plates, and signs that would meet the demanding specifications of the automotive, petrochemical, chemical, package handling, food processing, grain, and coal handling industries.

In 2014, CES changed its name to Controls Engraving (CE). CE is proud of our integrity, consistency, and determination to provide high quality industrial controls signage to the automation controls industries across the country.
